This weeks business idea is to become a Life Coach.  Life Coaching is one of the fastest growing work from home careers today.  I will try to sum up the definition of life coaching for you.  A Life Coach helps individuals who want to improve in their life in some way.  They act as a cheerleader and/or motivator.

Many people decide to become life coaches because they enjoy helping and motivating others or have an obstacle they have overcome in life and want to help others over the hurdle as well.

Skills Needed

Life coaching is not a regulated industry however, there are some skills required to be successful at this job.  Anyone considering this work from home career should become certified.  You may be thinking “Why do I need certification if it’s not mandatory”? The answer is simple.

Life Coach Certification allows you to demand a higher pay rate.  (The average coach earns $195 per hour). Certification in life coaching also shows a potential client that you are qualified because you have some formal training, it builds credibility.  There are many life coach schools available that offer different prices, times, training times, etc.

World Coach Academy is a great choice for life coach training because of the comprehensive course selection.  Not only do you receive life coaching skills training but you receive in depth business training as well.  The focus is to train you to be a successful life coach and business owner.

In addition to life coach training you will need to choose a specific niche.  The most successful life coaches are certified in a very specific niche.  Some examples of life coach niches are:  Weight Loss Coach, New Parent Coach, Business Coach, Divorce Recovery Coach, etc.

Start Up Costs:

To be honest Life Coaching has the average business start up costs as mentioned in the Virtual Assistant article.   The only additional cost would be training.

Life coach schools charge an average of $1800 – $7000.  Many schools such as World Coach Academy offer payment plans to ease the pinch on the wallet.

How to Get Started?

A good life coach school should assist in preparing your business and begin coaching before completion.  Once you have your certification you should already be up and running.

The next step would be to begin promoting your business and earning money.

On a side note:  I was a serial entrepreneur before I started life coaching.  I was the go to person for any and everyone that had a problem or did not know how to do something.  I went from business to business until I discovered coaching.  I have not looked back yet.  The one thing I loved to do was sitting right under my nose.  My passion was helping others!
